We Built This Raised Paver Patio at Our Own Home

Sometimes the best way to show what we do is to do it at home. We designed and built this raised paver patio at our own house - and we had a lot of fun with it. When it's your own backyard, you get to push the design a little further than usual.

We mixed multiple paver sizes to create something that has real visual depth. The herringbone centerpiece is framed by larger field pavers on either side, all tied together with a dark contrasting border running the full perimeter. Every layer of that layout was intentional. The pattern draws your eye in, and the border gives it a clean, finished edge that makes the whole space feel structured without feeling rigid.

The landscape lighting is what makes it work after dark. Low-profile fixtures placed along the patio edge cast a warm glow across the surface and keep the whole space usable well into the evening. It's one of those details that completely changes how a space feels - and it's something we work into every patio design we build.

But here's the thing about all of this. The craftsmanship matters. The pattern matters. The lighting matters. What matters most, though, is what the space gets used for. Friends, family, kids running around - that's the whole point. We built a space we actually wanted to be in, and it delivered exactly that.
